Venerable Vintage

As you may have figured out by now, I absolutely love using vintage cameras. To my eye, nothing beats the textures and tones of a good film photo.  But this appreciation for old cameras goes well beyond the end result. It’s the way these cameras feel in my hand.

Built primarily of metal and glass, they have a wonderful heft to them that is lost on most modern cameras, which are built largely from plastics. Their shutter sounds are as unique as their various designs, and I will frequently fire their shutters a few times each week just to hear and feel their mechanics at work.

It’s no surprise that I often turn my attention towards photographing these analogue beauties from another time, as they too are works of art. Please enjoy a few of my personal favourites! Happy shooting!
