Looking back on summer, August was wonderful time of year to spot Herons. I was fortunate enough to see Green Herons and Great Blue Herons in several locations close to home.
The Green Herons are very amusing to watch as they catch fish, crayfish and often frogs. I was able to watch some juveniles as they practiced their hunting skills.

I also had the privilege to watch a Great Blue Heron at several locations close to where I live. Here are a couple of my favourite images.

I love photographing these large, long-legged waterbirds that are frequently found feeding along the edges of our rivers, ponds and lakes.
